Atiku Abubakar says Nigeria @ 54, Politicians Getting Richer, A Bad Omen

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Former Vice President has observed that after 54 years of independence, the ordinary Nigerians are still lamenting what independence meant to their lives because of the widening gap between the leaders and the people.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his media office, the former Vice President noted that many Nigerians were concerned about how democratic governance has changed the quality of their lives for the better. He regretted that the rate at which poverty is ravaging Nigeria is inconsistent with the vast resources available to Nigeria.
According to him, the country's wealth does not automatically lead to better life if good governance is lacking.  Atiku said the rate at which unemployment is accelerating among Nigeria's youth, creates youth restiveness, which itself lead to other social crises such as armed robbery and other violent crimes.

SOAN:TB Joshua faces South African lawsuit

Leader and founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations, TB Joshua, could be facing a lawsuit from bereaved relatives of South African worshippers who died at his guest house building which collapsed over two weeks ago. Religious leader and claimed faith healer, TB Joshua, is not very popular with South Africans right now.Calls for the leader’s prosecution and appeals to ban Joshua from visiting the country have circulated on social media.
Now, the brothers of two women who died in the tragedy are calling for other bereaved to join them in launching legal action against Pastor Joshua. On September 12, 115 people – including 84 South Africans – lost their lives when a multi-storey guest house belonging to his church collapsed and was reduced to a pile of rubble.
Thanduxolo Doro and Mpho Molebatsi waited at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo airport for days after the collapse for news of their sisters, who had been visiting SCOAN.
“It is not that the building collapsed, rather what was done after the collapse – we didn’t get any news from the church,” Mr Doro, whose sister Vathiswa Madikiza died, told the BBC.
“When I contacted them they wouldn’t tell me anything. We saw reports that emergency workers were denied access initially, access that could have saved lives. The actions of the church after the incident are very telling,” he said.
“I need to do this for her. Even if I stand alone, I am determined to see that something is done,” he told the BBC.
“I understand that some families are afraid to take on someone who purports to be God’s messenger and I don’t blame them but I will do this.” Some 25 survivors of the collapse are continuing to receive medical care following their return to South Africa.
Officials say 16 of the wounded are in critical condition, with some having had limbs amputated and other complications.

11years old Victor Refuses To Cry when his mother died of Ebola

Victor (11 years-old, centre), Sheku (5 years-old, left) and Ibrahim (4 years-old, right) have just been released from the government-run treatment centre in Kenema, SierraLeone, after surviving Ebola. They spent over three weeks at the centre, where they lost their mother in the first few days.

Victor - the eldest, said he did not cry when his mother died because he didn’t want to scare his little brothers, and because they were sick too. He spent his days taking care of them, making sure they were fed and well cared for.
Now the boys will be cared for by their grandmother as their father also died. Victor says he is anxious to start school again, whenever classes resume.

Forget 2nd Term: Cardinal Okojie Warns Jonathan

Former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has again advised President Goodluck Jonathan to forget about a second term in office because he does not deserve it.

Speaking with SaharaReporters late yesterday from Nigeria, the retired cardinal, a founding member and former leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), recalled a conversation he had with Mr. Jonathan while he was still deputy. According to him, when the president asked him for prayers, he had insisted that Mr. Jonathan should first specify his prayer intentions. He said the president seemed at first shocked, but reluctantly revealed that he intended to run for office again.
Disclosing that the encounter happened in the presence of four other people, Cardinal Okojie said he told Jonathan that he could win but would not govern peacefully.

APC Says Jonathan’s Endorsement Is A Mockery Of Democracy

According to saharareporters Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives' Congress (APC) has described the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election slated for February 2015 as not only a mockery of democracy but also a glorification of failure.

A statement issued in Akure by the party's state Publicity Secretary, Om'Oba Abayomi Adesanya, accused the PDP as being the bane of Nigeria’s woes.
The party vowed that the people of Ondo will not vote for Jonathan in view of the various scandals perpetrated by his administration without any form of prosecution of those involved.

Afghanistan swears in first new president Ashraf Ghani

Afghanistan inaugurated its first new president in a decade on Monday, swearing in technocrat Ashraf Ghani to head a power-sharing government just as the withdrawal of most foreign troops presents a crucial test.

The first democratic handover of power in Afghan history has been far from smooth.
Illustrating the problems facing the new president, a suicide bomber killed seven people at a security checkpoint near Kabul airport just before Ghani was sworn in, a government official said. The Taliban claimed responsibility.

Later, ending months of uncertainty over the future US role in Afghanistan, the US embassy announced Ghani's representative would sign a security agreement with the United States allowing a small continent of troops to remain.

In his inaugural speech, Ghani appealed to the Taliban and other militants to join peace talks and put an end to more than a decade of violence. Thousands of Afghans are killed each year in the insurgency.
"Security is a main demand of our people, and we are tired of this war," Ghani said. "I am calling on the Taliban and Hezb-i-Islami to prepare for political negotiations."
Hezb-i-Islami is an Islamist faction loosely allied with the Taliban.
Ghani also vowed to crack down on rampant corruption and called for cooperation within the coalition government.

It’s even worse when you’re so young,” added the music industry big shot who knows both Bieber and Gomez very well.
After sightings of the duo in Toronto, the two were seen vacationing on the Caribbean island of St. Martin this week.

Isioma Madike Gives A vivid Report On Nigerian Marriages Made In Hell.

Women, the world over, are described as homemakers, custodians of social, cultural and fundamental values of the society. In Nigeria, however, many of them are violently treated by their intimate partners. While some take the form of physical abuse, others are sexual, psychological or arbitrary deprivation of liberty. In extreme cases, those in this “hell” often suffer in silence, and could be sent to their untimely grave, reports ISIOMA MADIKE

For every woman, who is violently attacked, we reduce our humanity —Nelson Mandela

Marriage in Nigeria, in most cases, is not pleasurable. This has led many to often describe it as hell on earth, with some couples enduring and suffering the excesses of their partners in silence. At present, no day passes without screaming headlines of the news media of some mind-boggling tales of domestic violence in and around the country. This, indeed, has somehow turned many Nigerian women into endangered species. Many are wondering how, a man, who, during courtship promised to cherish and take care of his woman could later turn her tormentor.

Majority of marriages have also degenerated into humiliation. While in other cases, a promised love has suddenly taken flight and replaced by hate and violence. Is it not strange that a man could hit a woman so violently as to maim, or even send her to untimely grave? This was the puzzle a couple of weeks back that returned Plateau State back in the news. Benjamin Toma, a resident of Foron junction in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state on March 4, at about 7:30 p.m., reportedly beat his wife, Victoria, aged 25, to death.

He, thereafter, hung her lifeless body to give the impression that she committed suicide. The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, who confirmed the incident, said Toma took such phony decision to cover up what he did. However, investigations have revealed that Toma took such a heinous action because of his wife’s purported refusal to summit herself to sexual intercourse. It was also gathered from a reliable source that the suspect is allegedly infected with the dreaded Human Immuno Virus (HIV).
This, according to the source, was why his wife had consistently denied him sex. “On the 04/03/2014, at about 7:30 hours, Chuwang Sambo of Larwa village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government, reported that one Benjamin Toma of Foron junction, also in Barkin Ladi, beat his wife, Victoria aged 25, to death and later hung her body” the police boss confirmed.
While mouths were still agape over what happened in the Plateau, another man in Jerin Duwatsu village in Zamfara, Mallam Umar, got into Police net for slapping his wife, Inno, to death. The incident, according to the village head, Magaji Hamidu, occurred when the deceased protested against the alleged perpetual injustice shown by the husband in favouring the senior wife on issues relating to matrimonial affairs.

CBN Bars Banks From Handling International Money Transfer

Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has prohibited Deposit Money Banks from acting as International Money Transfer Service operators. This was contained in new guidelines of CBN on international Money transfer services in Nigeria, signed by Director, Trade and Exchange Department, O. I. Gbadamosi posted at the CBN website weekend.

The statement also advised Authorised Dealers and members of the General public to operate within the ambit of the new guidelines. “In line with the new policy direction of the Bank, Management has approved the review of the existing guidelines on international Money Transfer Services to accommodate both inbound and outbound Services”, according to Gbadamosi.
It however, said that Banks can act as agents except with the express approval of the CBN. The new guidelines also stated that the provisions of the Banks and other Financial Institution Act, BOFIA on the prohibition of employment of certain persons in banks shall apply to International Money Transfer Services operators.

It further stated that in line with the BOFIA, all the conditions stipulating the exclusion of certain individuals from the management of banks shall apply to the management of International Money Transfer Services providers. According to the provision of section 48 {2} BOFIA share holders and officers of company shall be disqualified from undertaking International Money Transfer operations.
The new guideline which stipulates the permissible activities of international Money Transfer Operators said that, the operations shall include allowable inbound and out- bound international transfer transactions.

On the limits per out-bound transfer, the apex bank said that the allowable out-bound money transfer per transaction shall not exceed US$2, 000 or its equivalent, subject to periodic review by CBN. Where the beneficiary does not have a bank account or mobile money wallet, payments shall only be made upon the provision of a statutory/an acceptable means of identification such as; international Passport, Driver’s license, National Identification Card, INEC Permanent Voters card and Bank’s Verification Number.

Why Nigeria still at risk of Ebola Virus Disease - Virologist

A Virologist, Prof. Oyewale Tomori, said on Monday that Nigeria would continue to be at risk of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as long as the virus lingered in neighbouring countries.
Tomori, who works with the World Health Organisation (WHO), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that Nigeria would become free of the virus only after the disease had been wiped out of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea - all in West Africa.

He, however, commended both the Federal Government and the Lagos State government for their dedicated efforts in combating the Ebola Virus in the country, and urged Nigeria to help its neighbours to fight the disease.

He said: ``Ebola has been ravaging the whole of West Africa. We are not free of Ebola until Ebola stops in those three countries because there is always a chance that another Patrick Sawyer can come in.
``And I want to commend the Lagos State Government for what they have done over this Ebola; I am also commending the Federal Government.
``But we are not out of the woods yet; so long as there is a case in Liberia, so long there is a case in Sierra Leone, so long there is a case in Guinea, we are not out of the woods; so, until that is over, Ebola is not over.
``All of us need to work together for the sake of our country.
“And we must go out now as Nigerians to help our brothers in other parts of West Africa to see what we can do to take care of this Ebola.``

Tomori said that improved hygiene and especially hand washing with soap could help prevent infection generally.
He also urged health workers to adhere strictly to the universal practice when attending to patients as they were particularly at risk of contracting the virus. (NAN)

Doctor Gains Success Treating Ebola with HIV drug in Liberia

Sunday, September 28, 2014

A doctor in rural Liberia,Dr. Gobee Logan says he's had good results with a treatment he tried on Ebola patients out of sheer desperation with an HIV drug.
According to cnn.com , Dr. Gobee Logan has given the drug, lamivudine, to 15 Ebola patients, and all but two survived. That's a 7% mortality rate.
Logan is mindful that lamivudine can cause liver and other problems, but he says it's worth the risk since Ebola is so deadly.
Logan said he got the idea to try lamivudine when he read in scientific journals that HIV and Ebola replicate inside the body in much the same way.
"Ebola is a brainchild of HIV," he said. "It's a destructive strain of HIV."

WIZ KHALIFA WANTS JOINT CUSTODY

According to TMZ, reports have it that Wiz Khalifa drew the battle lines in his divorce with Amber Rose ... challenging her move to get full custody of their one-year-old son

Wiz has filed his response to Amber's divorce petition ... he's asking for JOINT CUSTODY of Sebastian. Fact is ... in California it's advantage Wiz because there's a presumption joint custody is in the best interests of a child ... and when a parent asks for sole custody it's often a sign of vengeance.

Wiz also is agreeable on the prenup ... like Amber, he wants it enforced.  Amber is the one who demanded a prenup and she's getting a lump sum payment north of $1 million.

According to the documents, filed by disso queen Laura Wasser, Wiz is also willing to pay Amber spousal support, because we now know the prenup provides that. Sources connected with Wiz and Amber tell us the agreement gives her upwards of $5K a month.

THE WAY TO A MAN'S HEART IS UNDER THE SKIRT, TRUE OR FALSE

Well, I don’t know about you but my day didn’t start up great but hey I tried to make a way to make it fun cus I believe that no one or nothing should take your sunshine or your happiness. You only give power to anything or anyone who does that to you. I quickly understood that and held on to that happiness that was almost being taken away.

Someone once said that the way to man’s heart is through his stomach but earlier on I read a column on Nigerian tribune of a married woman who says that the way to a man’s heart is under a woman’s skirt. We would like to know if that’s true or not and also find out what the way to a woman’s heart is…
Mrs. Bosede a Nigerian tribune columnist wrote something on her column on how she thinks that the way to man’s heart is no longer the tummy but under her skirt.
She says:
“I got a feedback from a woman who attended one of our Enjoying Great Sexlife In Marriage Conferences a few months ago. She was having problems with her husband, which resulted in not enjoying good marital relationship any longer. She could not figure out why her husband had suddenly become a stranger in the marriage. But at the conference, she learnt what sex means to a man, and decided to try it out as a solution to her marital problem.
The result was amazing. With more sex in the marriage, the fire of love was rekindled, and she can have anything from her husband unsolicited for. To crown it all, her husband bought her a brand new car two months ago. What she could not achieve over a long period of time came to her on a platter through sex. Who says there is no magic in sex with a man? This is the foundation of the thought for this piece as a tryout solution for wives who are having issues with their husbands.
Many women today endure marriage rather than enjoy it. The man that was once head over heels in love with them, who could do anything for them, is now like a total stranger to them. As far as many of these women are concerned, their man is the problem. He is the one that must change. And in search of solution to their marital problems, they move from one prayer house to another, pray all manner of prayers and take all manner of counsel from both qualified and unqualified quarters.
The truth is, over the years, I have come to discover that nobody has the power to change any other person other than themselves. The only way to change others is to change ourselves. For most of these women, the key to changing their husbands is changing themselves. It has been said that one of the definitions of madness is to keep doing things the same way and expect a different result.
To get a better result other than you have been getting in your marriage, you must learn to do things differently.  And as said earlier, you have power over yourself alone and not on your husband. So for once, look away from your husband and concentrate on yourself. What are the things you should do differently to get a different response from your man? The solutions to the problems we face in our homes as women are not often beyond us. We only need to look inward rather than outward. For women who are passing through turbulent times in their marriage and sincerely desire a turn around, you may have to do the following:
-Work on your sex life
Many women need to know how important sex is to a man and to the survival of their marriage. Many have lost their husbands because they are not up and doing in bed. They are always developing headaches and giving one excuse or the other every time their man turns to them for sex. And many of those husbands have fallen into the hands of hungry women who are ready to give them more than they desire, that which their legal wives are always denying them. Is that the situation with you? If yes, then you will have to change. The way God made a man, sex is the most important thing to him in marriage. In fact, the first reason he married you is so that he can have it when he wants it, and no matter what you do for him and on his behalf, if he cannot have it when he desires it, he sees you as not fulfilling your marital obligation to him.
The urge for sexual satisfaction comes before every, and anything in a man’s life. This is unlike a woman, who has sex as the last thing on her mind. He does not just see sex as pleasure, he sees it as something he cannot do without; something that is paramount to his survival in life. That is why he cannot but turn to another woman when the one that should help him in fulfilling this urge is not forthcoming. As a wife, you must know that the health of your sex life is directly proportionate to the health of your marriage.   The way to a man’s heart they say is his stomach, but I have discovered that this is not the absolute truth.
To me, the way to a man’s heart is under your skirt. That sounds dirty but it’s the truth.
When a man has a wife who is ‘alive sexually’ to him, he will do everything and anything for her.  There are homes that are surviving in spite of the fact that the woman of the house is not a good cook. All they have to do is to make sure a good cook is employed and a wise woman in such situation makes sure she employs a man and not a woman as her cook so as to make sure she does not create a crack in her marriage. But the role of sexual fulfilment is such that a woman cannot employ another to fulfil. That is why every woman must make it her priority if she wants to keep her man. And the truth is, no matter what your opinion is concerning your husband, there are a thousand and one women out there who will be so glad to help you in fulfilling this role. So, my advice is, don’t be slack.
And Make it exciting
It is not enough for a woman to be there for her man sexually, it is most important she contributes her quota to make each of their sexual intercourse an exciting one.  Many women believe they are only to be on the receiving end. So, they just lie there like a log of wood, not contributing to the act, waiting for him to be through. This does not make for a great sex. For sex to be great for the two partners involved, they both must participate. Your man may not tell you, but I can speak authoritatively that he doesn’t enjoy being on the giving end alone. Like he is touching you, he desires that you touch him as well. He desires that you guide his hand to the part of your body that gives you utmost pleasure.
According to a columnist who goes by the name bosede she said that  In other to  make the bed room exciting seeing that the way to a man’s heart is through the skirt, another thing your husband desires is that you sometime take the initiative. An average Nigerian woman believes she will be playing cheap if she initiates sexual intercourse with her husband by making the first move. And this belief does not only stop her from initiating it, even when she wants sex, she pretends as if she does not want it, in order not to appear cheap. But this is not the truth.
She said and in her words, My research revealed to me that rather than men looking down on their wives for initiating sex, they see it as something great. In fact, it is something every man looks forward to because it gives them a sense of fulfillment. They see it as a confirmation from their wives that they are satisfying her sexually and that she approves of them sexually. It boosts their ego, it boosts their self-esteem. It boosts their self-confidence and gives them an assurance that no man can lure her into it in their absence.
Another thing that could make your sexual life exciting to your man is by verbally expressing your satisfaction to him in the very act. It is not a crime to let your man know that you are enjoying him, after all, that man is the only man you can call yours in the whole world. And the truth is, men love it when their wives tell them how great they are in bed. It makes them feel on top of the world and drive them to do everything possible to get better at the act.
This is the reason many men will leave their pretty wives and patronize sex workers because she makes them to feel like real men. And remember, because she is marketing herself so that they will always come back to her, she goes out of her way to give it to him the way he wants it. And the worst thing is, many of such sex workers have ended up taking over the heart of the man completely. No wonder, it is often said that a woman can extract the seemingly impossible promises from a man during and after the act of sex.
Sex to a man is worth all to him, and therefore will do anything for any woman who can dare to give it to him the best way possible. Many men had divulged sacred information to women on the altar of sex that had caused them so much, including their lives. If in doubt of this assertion, a question put across to the biblical Samson, as to what made him to tell the secret of his great power with his head on the lap of Delilah, and the consequences thereof, will convince you.  I hope wives will learn this secret and adopt it in securing their husbands.

So you, what do say? Do you agree with her or not.. ?
