TECH WAR!? Facebook Set To Launch New Career Website

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Facebook is reportedly set to launch a new career website which will allow users maintain personal and professional accounts for distinct uses.

The new service, known as “Facebook at work”, could challenge other career based social media sites like LinkedIn, Google’s drive email and Microsoft Outlook products.
Currently, most organizations ban employees from accessing the regular Facebook site at work as a means of curbing workplace distraction and misuse of productive working hours. “Facebook at work” has features which would enable users to chat with co-workers, connect with professional contacts and work jointly on documents-features which could soften the hard stance of employers. Despite these, however, “to become an integral part of office life, Facebook will need to win (their-employees) trust”, stressed the Financial times.

The new service is currently undergoing trials, but the date of the launch is unknown as yet.
Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and as at September 2014, has over 1 billion users.
