The Dilemma Faced By Rescued Boko Haram Sex Slaves: To Abort Unborn Children Or Not?

Wednesday, May 27, 2015
Okay now.. without waste of time, we have got something very sensitive to talk about…its about the women and girls that are currently pregnant for the Boko boys and the mix feeling as to whether or whether not they should keep the pregnancy or abort it.

Now it should interest you to note that these women have tested positive to HIV and life from now on would be different and needless to say, difficult seeing how life is in the northeast. So, the question tonight is,  should they go ahead and abort the babies or do they keep the babies?

Remember that they were raped or forced into marriage against their will under duress… and even if they keep these children, they might grow up to hate these kids, so wouldnt it be wise for them to abort the babies?

I don’t know about you, but need I ask you, if you were ever wounded and traumatized as these chibok women who were captured, raped daily in that forest, if you had to face your death every single day, if you have had to receive absolutely no mercy from a group of terrorists, would you be able to choose life for anyone let alone a child growing inside me as a result of being raped???  Think about it and let us know if after going through all the traumatic experiences for more than a year, use as  sexual slave constantly threatened to be killed if you go against their wish or command… got you pregnant, eventually you got the chance to be saved by the army…

These  pregnant mothers have chosen not to carry their babies to term but some bodies but religions and none are appealing that they do not abort these innocent babies because that will be like revisiting the evils of their fathers on their kids….
So the only way these babies can receive mercy is if their traumatized and deeply wounded mothers are able to choose life (instead of death for them) and so they think what these women need is support. But my problem is even if govt or society decides to support them.. The question: “for how long?”
If they say, ok lets have psychologist come on board to help stabilize these women, mentally in order to take away their bitterness and anger that they feel inside which undeniably could be transferred to their unborn child as we speak, the question here and again is: how patient will these psychologist be, seeing how porous out customer service relations are in Nigeria?

The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima recently said that Boko Haram insurgents deliberately raped the women they abducted to get them pregnant so as to give birth to future generation of jihadist insurgents.
He said that based on his study and observation of Boko Haram members, he observed that the belief among most of them was that they can confiscate any wife or property from someone who does not share their interpretation of Islam and that children “fathered by them (Boko Haram) are likely to share their ideology later in life and succeed their parents in the years to come,” which would ensure a continuous cycle of insurgency.
Governor Shettima further expressed concern that Boko Haram would after “putting a woman in the family way, identify them with particular communities to monitor the children and whisk them away in future. So invariably, there was a purpose behind impregnating these women!
Now, There has been a lot of controversy regarding the fate of women raped and impregnated by Boko Haram members .While some groups have said they should abort the babies, others have said the women should not.

As an individual who feels things deeply; what should be the fate of these unborn babies? Should they be aborted or not? The blood of an insurgent runs through through their vein, now who is to say that they will not turn out like their fathers?

What about the mothers,? They obviously have go through a traumatic experience that they child will always remind them of on how they were conceived… the pain that their husbands or siblings or parents were killed in the hands of these insurgent, the fear that they might get killed if they refused to do their biddings,  that they might never be found or rescued and reunited with their family, the punishment they had to go through to stay alive…

Oh yes, there is a high possibility that these women are bitter, some thing can never be forgotten or forgiven.. so should they keep these babies, still?
