Now in as much as I am a
strong believer in the world of feminism, girl power and feminine independence;
I do not deny the fact that most women aren’t necessarily built to be way
higher than their husbands because not a lot them can handle the highs of being
successful especially in Nigeria where the society has made it clear that “ it’s
a man’s world and men should be breadwinners: any man who can’t provide for his
family is worse than an infidel.”
Yes, I get it!
Any woman who can be successful;
be the breadwinner in her own home and still not complain or make her man feel less
of other real men out there with matching income, is a woman who has been tamed
by the Holy Spirit and has an understanding of her place in marriage regardless
of her status in the society.
Now, the crux of the
matter is the rate at which bread seller turned star model, Olajumoke’s husband
tends to follow her and then carry their child as though responsibilities have
been shifted. Maybe unknowingly it is starting to switch without both of them
knowing and so if “God Forbid” her marriage starts to have issues, the society
should be held responsible because in the process of making a star out of a
breadseller who is now a breadwinner, they are making a housewife out of her
husband!
I get it, she
photobombed UK rapper, Tinie Tempah’s shoot and heaven and earth smiled on her
face; she obtained favour in the sight of men but then again, society is fixing
her needs and in another breath, sidelining her husband in the process of
helping his family.
No one sees it now but
society is preparing a ground for discord in no time if Jumoke’s husband is not
properly integrated into the success story as an entity or as a family!
These are some of the
potent questions that come to mind when I see all of Olajumoke’s success
stories on blogs:
Whose name was written
on the certificate of the luxury apartment given to the breadseller and her
family by Sujimoto construction limited?
In my opinion, Sunday Orisaguna looks ignored, so why
isn’t he enrolled into an institute too, so that he can be upgraded to the level
his wife has been elevated to? Its hard for even educated men to keep a strong
enlightened woman tamed, not to mention a man who isn’t as exposed as his woman
is.
In as much as she is a
model, my question is why is he always captured carrying or tending to the
child while Jumoke poses on for pictures?
That’s a wrong image which invariably will give an impression of a man
who has nothing to do now that his wife is the superstar.
Is society even thinking
or it’s just a selfish agenda to latch their hooks into the hems of fame? Are
they really helping without an ulterior motive, so that they can get their
names, or brands out? If no, then why neglect her husband?
To whom it may concern,
if you are thinking of helping Olajumoke in fulfilling destiny, please do well not
to forget the man that once led the breadseller. As you go about polishing
Jumoke, please do go about Polishing her husband and her child.
Enough said – Selah
