VIDEO: "Why We Cannot Expel Cadets Who Tortured Man For Complimenting Female Officer"-NDA Commandant

Friday, February 26, 2016
Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, yesterday explained why it could not expel some cadets captured on video torturing a civilian for no just reason. Nigerians cried out in condemnation of the cadets led by a female, who were shown in a video clip, which went viral last month, dehumanizing a young man later identified as Amari Sunday, a staff of Abuja Park “N” Pay, for allegedly commending the beauty of one of the female cadets. Sunday later, in an interview with channels television, said the real reason why he was tortured was because he wasn't fast enough when one of the unruly cadets had demanded his attention. While majority of Nigerians called for the expulsion of the cadets, the Commandant of the elite Nigerian military training institution, Major General Mohammed Ibrahim, said they could not be expelled because the time to prosecute them had lapsed.

According to the NDA Commandant, the time frame for expelling any cadet for wrongdoing must not exceed six months from the date the alleged offence was committed. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony of 466 officer cadets of the 67th Regular Course, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim noted that the incident in question took place two years ago when the cadets were first termers and had just been in the academy for only three months. While noting that appropriate disciplinary action had already been taken on the cadets, he urged the newly matriculated ones to consider themselves lucky to have successfully passed the one month intensive military training.

This is insane!!!

Watch the video again if you haven't already done so and let us know if the army authorities have not done enough to the evil cadets.

  1. This is absolutely wrong. Please, let someone do something, else this barbaric act would definitely be repeated (on innocent people) by another sets of NDA freshers. The audio-visual evidence is sufficient to send these NDA guys to jail. For God sake, it's intimidation. The simple question is: If Sunday Amari was from a well known political home, shey NDA commandant for talk this nonsense. Chai!!! Sorry Sunday Amari. It shall never be well with poverty.

    1. Its such a pity, the state that helpless nigerians have continually found themselves even in the hand of those in the force. They intimidate you and get away with it especially the ones in Abuja. I think time has come for Nigerians to stand up for what they believe even if they are faced with a bullet. we swallow too much and thats why politicians can get away with crime and not to be question.

  2. I have been subject to somewhat similar but in measure lesser dehumanization by the military I know how I felt for days as an aftermath of the punishment. I wish these people could be tried in our civil court. My experience have made me to despise the force despite their continuous sacrifice for us all, which pains me but I can't help it. They behave as if they were forced into military I believe it's a decision that they should be proud of not punishing innocent citizens for a decision they took in their privacy. Thank you Jane for this platform
