Love is blind, they say.
What sustains a marriage isn't the looks or the wealth a partner can bring but what their hearts beat for. What you feel for the next being should be greater than what they have to offer you. Ofcourse, the physical attributes can determine the intensity of sex appeal your partner exudes thereby getting you sucked in with lust.
Lust, when that envelopes you, it blinds you from the impending danger ahead that you would otherwise have detected if you had your head above the euphoria that lust brings.
Money, sex and power have become the measuring stick for a great marriage these days and thus leaving ladies single for a longtime because they scrutinize every suitor, placing them on a pedestal just to see if they pass through the eye of their own needles.
Sadly, this is the reason why men assume a character not true to their individuality for fear of being rejected by yet another materialistic woman. And alas, as soon as the applaud, the cheers and making of toast with each click of glasses half filled with red wine, the owambes, the gifts have reached the climax and the wedding day's drapes have fallen over with the guests all dispatched to their various destinations and the couple now left standing alone to kick start this journey of love, the true essence of both lovers begin to crawl from its hiding.
The months of pretense are over and there will be no need to be cautious. See finish enters into the equation. Now, this is when the true test of love would come in but remember, love fizzles out and what keeps the bond stronger is friendship and primarily, your action because love is a verb and without action, your words as good as air!
This is the reason why you must look pass the "I love You" phrase and see what their actions say because love is an action word and not a feeling!
Jane abeg tell them ladies... most of them are very materialistic especially the abuja one. God help us men.
